Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested from his residence in Lahore after being sentenced to three years in prison and fined in the Tosha Khana case and transferred to a jail in the border district of Attock in Punjab province. Is. After the arrest of Imran Khan, there were first reports that he was transferred to Islamabad by helicopter, but later the police brought him to Islamabad via the highway, where he was taken to Attock Jail after medical examination.
Following the
transfer of Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan to jail, his arrest
warrant will be checked as per the usual procedure. After that, their previous
medical record or report, if any, will be checked, after which they will
undergo a fresh medical test in the jail itself.
According to the
jail authorities, it is mandatory for any prisoner to undergo a medical test on
arrival at the jail. After which Imran Khan's personal belongings will be taken
from him and handed over to the authorities and they will be kept in the jail
vault. These items are returned at the time of release. According to the jail
authorities, former Prime Minister Imran Khan will be transferred to the
barracks after medical tests and taking valuables from him.
According to the
jail rules, Imran Khan can be given 'A class category' because he is a former
prime minister, but the facility of A or B class category is not available in
Attock jail. It should be noted that out of the 42 prisons in Punjab, the
largest province of Pakistan, there are only two prisons where A-class
facilities have been provided for the prisoners. These two jails include Bahawalpur
Jail and Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
The name of Adiala Jail has always resonated in Pakistani politics. It was built in the late 1970s and early 1980s during the regime of Pakistan's military dictator General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq. This is the prison where many important politicians including four Prime Ministers of the country have been imprisoned.
According to the jail rules, the prisoners who are given A class are given a separate barrack consisting of two rooms for accommodation, one room size of which is nine times 12 feet i.e., nine feet in length and 12 feet in width. Apart from a bed, air-conditioner, fridge and TV, a separate kitchen is also included for the prisoner. A class prisoner is also allowed to cook his own food instead of eating jail food. Apart from this, a prisoner living in a class is also given two laborers.
Jail authorities say
that the convicts who are kept in a class category, if they want to order food
from home, they have to take permission from the government before that, apart
from meeting such convicts with their relatives or their lawyers. One day in a
week is fixed, but it is also determined with the approval of the government.
According to the
jail authorities, if the inmate wants, the two laborers can stay with him.
According to the
jail rules, the prisoners who are given B class are given a separate room and a
laborer, however, if the jail superintendent wants, the number of laborers can
be increased from one to two. There are certain conditions for obtaining B
Class, based on which the approval of the Home Department is required.
C Category Jails are for ordinary prisoners who are neither allowed to order food from home nor have any facilities which are related to their education or rank. Usman Buzdaar's government has provided C-class prisoners with mattresses, coolers and 10-channel cable, which requires permission from the superintendent.
He also said that
for security reasons, a political prisoner is kept in a separate cell, not with
ordinary prisoners, even in C class. According to the jail authorities, the
persons selected as attendants for the A and B class prisoners are the C
category prisoners involved in minor crimes.
